Applying Narrative Theories To This Is England

When watching the film This Is England I anaylsyed the narritve for example how characters are deveolped. The first character we see introduced into Shane Medows film is Shaun a 12 year old boy who is getting bullied at school. We see him get into a fight with a fellow pupil who shaun has been offended by a joke about his farther. On his way home from school he passes through a tunnel and comes across a group of skinheads. This scene provides the foundations for what becomes and happens during the film. We see another primary character introduced Woody. Woody decideds to cheer Shaun up and help him with the bullying at first when watching Woody i am left unsure of weather he is a good guy or if he is bad, I am led to believe this because of the way the skinhead stereotype is built into the group. At first the group seem intimidating because of the dress sense and the shaving hair. My mind uses a link because of what i already have seen of skinhead culture within the media such as having linnks to the NF(national front) which is often associted with violence, facisim and racisim, How as the film progresses i realise that this gang are just a harmless bunch of mates who just want to have fun and enjoy being young. Shaun becomes accepted into the group and has his head shaven and giving clothes which go with the fashion of a skinhead. Everything from that point in the film goes well for Shaun until at a party and 'Villian' is introduced
